We're off to see the wizard...

Not really. However, we are off... to a good start with the house! They did hold off from starting last week because of the potential rain that was coming in this weekend and I am glad they did because whew, what a storm we got Friday night and Sunday night.

I did get a nice surprise when I visited the lot this evening though... see for yourself...

Who would have ever thought we would be so excited over some concrete being poured! :) Wayne had actually stopped by earlier today (around noon) to find a man with a tractor digging the holes. He had no idea that they would be pouring concrete today too! It was a nice surprise for him when I was able to show him these pictures.

In other news... there isn't much hugely exciting to announce. Jackson is growing and growing. Wayne said he went in to check on him Friday night before he went to bed and noticed that he is getting longer! I think we are going to have to transition Jackson to a bigger bed when we move just for the sake that he will be getting too long for the toddler bed pretty soon. Okay, so it may be like another year before he actually out grows it, but hey, wouldn't you love to get a new bed with a new room!?!? Speaking of his room, I was  thinking about painting his room a neutral color and buying Cars wall decals to put on his walls. However, I cannot seem to find exactly what I want without paying $100 or more for one character. I did ask him the other day if he would like to have Tow Mater on his wall and he was really excited about that. So, I may just do one or two really big ones and then do more of my decorating on his bed sheets/comforter, curtains, and all that jazz. We'll see. I just want something that will be easy to change in a few years because he won't be into Cars forever.

I am still working on my cakes. I am staying busy with them as well. The orders seemed to slack off a bit in August, but September is already filling up fast! I even received an order today for one in December! I am thankful for the opportunity to do this. It is nice to have the little bit of extra cash every now and then. Especially when we plan to go to the "baseball game" like we are going to do Thursday night. Jackson really enjoys watching the game and it is a cheap date (until you buy the wonderful food!). I did this T-Rex cake for a friend of ours. I have two more 1st birthday cakes next month. Such an exciting milestone! :) Going to be working on a super hero cake for a 4 year old and two other cakes that the requesters don't know what they want on them yet. We shall see!

Another monthly list...

1) It's official! We've signed the construction agreement on our new home and if all goes well with the inspection on our current home next week, they're going to start building Wednesday!! Woohoo! I am not sure if I mentioned this before, but the contractor is buying our home when the new home is finished... that is why we have to get an inspection on our current home.
2) We have a busy weekend planned. Tomorrow we are going to celebrate the first birthday of a little boy and celebrate the upcoming arrival of a new little girl. I also have 3 cakes to make and really clean up the house for the inspector. The realtor says the inspector is not coming to see how clean our home is, but I don't want him to visit without doing a little straightening up. Okay, so a lot of straightening up.
3) I went to see The Help tonight with my mom and two other ladies. I have not read the book, but the movie was awesome. It is definitely Oscar worthy and I will definitely own a copy! The language is kinda tough but I really think it fits the culture/era of the story. If you go to see it, take your kleenexes!!
4) Jackson is growing into his terrible twos stage... finally. Not that I was looking forward to it, but, he has been extremely whiny and cranky this week and definitely pushing his boundaries. Ahh... parenting.
5) I never knew there were 12,000 different colors of brick. Okay, so maybe I am exaggerating a bit, but not a lot... I am finding that this house is a bit more stressful than I thought and they haven't even broken ground yet! I guess since it is a "custom-built" home, we literally get to pick out every detail down to the color of the brick for the foundation. However, I am really not that picky and honestly Wayne is a lot better about the decorating and stuff so I think I am going to leave a lot of the interior stuff to him. He knows what he wants anyway, I am just going to be there to ensure it doesn't turn into a bonified bachelor pad. :)
6) I am having a few dizzy spells lately. I would think of it as vertigo, but I don't think I have ever had that so I am not sure if that is what it is... I just know every once in a while it feels like the world is spinning around me. Not sure if it is bad enough to go to the doc yet, but I am definitely keeping an eye it.

Okay, I think I am going to hit the sack now. Have a good one!

The bathroom floor is NOT your bathtub...

Did you ever really think that it was? Apparently Jackson did tonight. :( There is the ONLY rule we give him during bathtime... "NO water outside the tub!"

Usually we give him a few minutes to play in the tub before we bathe him. It gives me some time to do a few things around the house. Am I a terrible Mom for allowing him to play in the tub alone and yelling at him ever 3-5 minutes to make sure he is okay? Maybe. But for now, it works. I guess. Well, until tonight. Maybe I did some Mom things for just a little too long. Before I knew it, there was a whole bunch of water splashing and it just didn't sound right. Not right at all. It's that "I-know-I-need-to-check-on-him-but-I-really-don't-want-to-see-what-he-has-done" kind of feeling. Annnndddd, I was right.

Not only did he fill up his cup 1 time to completely pour OUT OF THE BATHTUB, but he filled it up 4 to 5 times. So much for Wayne just finishing our load of towels in the dryer! Lesson learned... no more cups in the tub UNLESS the child will be supervised.

Goodnight.

He's so silly!

On Thursdays during the summer, Jackson's daycare does a special treat and gives the kids a shaved ice snow cone. I think he really loves them because they always end up all over his face. He has done better about not getting it on his clothes (as much) but at least it always washes out pretty good.

Not only is the treat cold and adds color to his face, it tends to give him a sugar high as well. And for some reason, it doesn't kick in until I get him home! :) As he runs back and forth through the house, making lion and t-rex noises, I often just wish that I had only 1/4th of the energy he has. If you notice, his hands are clinched into fists, you just need to imagine FFFFRRRROOOAAARRRRR sound coming from his mouth! :) That is his t-rex noise. And yes, I did add an "F" purposely to that onomatopoeia because Jackson add the "F" when he says it! You gotta love that kid! :)

Our secret...

I am finally ready to announce our secret and the reason for our unspoken prayer request:

Tada!

Yes, we are still in the planning stages right now, but we just received our final draw of our NEW home last night! We are very excited and cannot WAIT to get moved in. We have found the perfect lot out in the country and in a really great school system... which is a huge plus. It is amazing how planning changes when children are involved. :)

I will say that I have a picture of the actual floor plan, but I don't want to post that for the world to see. Just some details though... It will be a 3 bedroom, two bath split floor plan (meaning the master is on one side of the house and the other 2 bedrooms will be on the other). There is a two car garage and a huge living room and kitchen. We will have a fire place and a back deck as well as a HUGE HUMONGOUS walk-in pantry!! There is also an unfinished upstairs that we will plan to finish sometime in the future.

I wanted to send out a special thank you for all of your prayers and I would like to ask for you to continue to pray as this will be a long and sometimes daunting process. Oh, and our plan is to be in the house by January 27th, 2012... Jackson's 3rd birthday! Yay!
