10 months

Over this past weekend, we had a small celebration. Jackson was 10 months old Friday. There is not a lot of new to report. Jackson is trying to pull up on furniture. He gets to his knees and then brings one foot up (usually his right foot) and before he will pull himself up, he usually falls on his bum. I think he is close to getting it, we just have to work on it just a little longer.

Also, we started adding 2% milk into his formula. Right now he is doing 2 ounces of milk to 4 ounces of formula. I will probably do that for the rest of the week and then do half and half. I can't get him to drink from the sippy cup unless it is juice. I guess we just have to work on one thing at a time.

He is really doing very well with eating table food though. For Thanksgiving he had some stuffing, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, corn pudding, small peices of turkey and gravy. He did so well with the food. I still have to watch him very closely though. I don't want him to choke on anything, as any mother wouldn't. I want him to eat table food just because it will be easier for us, but I don't want to rush anything either.

He is also definitely forming more of a personality. One of his big things now is throwing his body forward when he doesn't get what he wants. Yes, a little temper tantrum. Usually I can just talk to him and he will stop. But, I know this will get harder to stop as he gets older. Here we go...

That's all for now!

Preparing for Christmas

We started our Christmas preparations just shortly after our Thanksgiving dinner. Wayne wanted to try the Black Friday Smithfield adventure this year. So Jackson went to Wayne's parents for Thursday night and ventured to our destination with my dad and step-mom around 10:30pm. We thought that everything opened at 12:01 am but when we arrived, there were several stores already open. Our main mission was to Nautica and that was the only place we really got any "deals". After that we just walked the center. Apparently Yankee candle was giving candles away because there was a long line to get in the store and people were walking away with cases of candles. I will say that we quickly realized that we probably won't do this again. There was just too many people and I didn't get any deals worth going out for in the middle of the night. There were also too many people just "hanging out". We got home around 4:15 and went right to bed. We got up around 1pm and went into town to do a little more shopping. We seemed to get better deals at home than we did in the middle of the night. Hmm...

Saturday was the day to put up the Christmas tree. We were able to add some new ornaments to the tree this year.

Of course, I have not added the pictures needed for these ornaments yet. I plan to do that this week. I was very excited about Hallmark's Baby's First Christmas ornament this year. We used jungle animals for Jackson's nursery and the ornament was just so fitting.

I was also able to purchase these cute ornaments at the Carolina Pottery Friday morning. So fitting for our "House Divided"!

Thanksgiving 2009

Since Wayne had to work this Thanksgiving, I decided to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for him. We had his parents (MeeMa and PeePa) and my dad and step-mom over (PaPa and Nana). My mom (Grandma) and my brother were in Savannah, GA celebrating with my mom's sister's family. This was a very special Thanksgiving for our family because it was Jackson's first! My mom had a cute little bib made for him (pictured above). I actually didn't do much of anything most of the Thanksgiving day. Jackson and I watched the Macy's Christmas parade. Then I finished up some cleaning. I didn't have to start cooking until around 4pm. I roasted a turkey breast and made mac-n-cheese and green bean casserole. I did prepare the stuffing and turkey gravy as well. Stuffing from the box and gravy from the can -- those are the best! Oh, yeah, and I can't forget the yeast rolls!! Nana made corn pudding and a peach cobbler. MeeMa made sweet potato casserole and a blueberry crunch dessert (my request). Everything was so good.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and really had a chance to reflect on everything you are thankful for. The Lord has really blessed my family and me and there is so much that I am thankful for.

One Saturday Morning

I just don't understand it... It seems as though every Saturday for the past 10 months Mommy has been the one who wanted to sleep in and rest for just a little longer. Well, not today! I guess Jackson wanted his turn. I was wide awake at 6:45 and here it is almost 8 am and Jackson is still asleep. I guess it is a good thing because I needed to get myself ready to head out kinda early today. We have to go to a birthday party and then my mom and I are going to do some Christmas shopping and spend the afternoon together. However, I have not even begun to get ready. I have been on this silly computer most of the morning. Why is that? Why do I procrastinate so much... maybe that is an inherited trait? hmm...

Well, I am going to get off this computer and go get in the shower. I hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

Kibbles and Bits

One of these days, Mommy is really going to learn not to make me mad and leave me alone!

Hello world, it's Jackson again. Hope your Wednesday was wonderful. I guess mine was okay. I think I am starting to feel really bad again. My mouth is just killing me -- right above those 2 little white things shining when I smile. From what Mommy is telling me, I guess I am getting some more of those nice pearly whites. However, I just wish I could breathe through my nose again. Will that day ever come?

Okay, I get it... enough of the babbling. Here's the scoop. I got up this morning in a half-way decent mood, I guess. Until Mommy had to lay me down to change my diaper again. I am finding that I am really starting to hate that. I like to look around, crawl around -- not lay on my back. But, I guess sometimes you just have to do things you don't want to. I got all cleaned up and she changed my clothes. When we were all finished, I decided to go check out all my books on my shelf and play with my foamy starfish that belongs in the bathtub, I think. Mommy lets me bring them in my room so I won't cry so much after a bath. Well, next thing I know, she is gone. I didn't know where she went so I set out to find her. I began my journey by exiting my room. No sign of her. Hmm. Down the hallway I go. La de da de da. I come upon the couches and that big thing that holds all of Daddy and Mommy's books. Still, no sign of her. However, Bobo definately made sure I saw him. I received several kisses from him. Sometimes I just wish he would understand that one kiss is definately enough!

I began to continue my search. I turned into the room where she always feeds me and fixes my bottle. The floor is really hard and cold in there. I think I may have heard her call it the kitchen before? Not sure. She is nowhere to be seen though. However, I did see something... Man, I had been waiting to get my hands it! No one was around, I guessed it was the right moment. In this little black dish on the floor were some round circle things that I could play with. Oooh... fun! I couldn't get just one from the top - I had to tip that dish over and choose just the perfect one to play with. Well, you know what happens to things that get into my hands... it moves from my hands to my mouth. So, in goes one of these little balls and another and almost another, until...

Oh, Mom... there you are! Why is your finger in my mouth? Why are you taking those balls out? I was just playing -- well, really, I was just looking for you. Then I heard her say... "those are for Bobo to eat -- not you!" She kind of made some funny noises like she might be getting sick. Personally, I didn't think they tasted all that bad. Hmm...

I guess I am not allowed to eat the same things Bobo eats. Maybe I will keep this in mind the next time I set out and search for something new. :)

9 months

Today, Jackson had his 9 month well-check. He was 9 months old about 2 weeks ago, but I wanted a Friday appointment. :) Here are his stats:

weight: 20.8lbs
height: 30 inches
head circumfrence: 18 inches

He is slowing down a little bit on his height... at 6 months he was in the 90th percentile and now he is around the 75th percentile. Everything else is about the same. But, we are still doing good. We received the okay to start dairy stuff (I have already started some yougurt a few times). The doctor also said we could start milk at 10 months. Oh, we are sooo close to getting rid of those formula costs! Yes, mommy and daddy are very excited about that!

Oh, crawling has become second nature for the little man. He follows me all around the house. He really likes to crawl to find Bo's water and food bowls too. Especially when I forget to take them off the floor! He is pulling up some as well. We will probably lower his crib matress this weekend, just to make sure we don't have any accidents.

I think that is most of the updates. I will leave you with a couple recent pictures!
